It started with a note in your shoe locker; It was stuffed into your sneaker. The note was typed on white computer paper.

Valentine mine, your beauty puts even the flowers to shame.

You thought it was sweet; Valentine’s Day was a full two weeks away and already you were getting love notes. True it was typed but maybe they didn’t want to risk the handwriting giving them away. Smiling you went to tuck the note into your pocket.

“ooooooooooo what’s this a love note for baka-chan?”

You knew who it was instantly Tatsuki was a tall girl with beautiful angular features. She was also a big bully. Tatsuki grabbed the note out of your hand raising it above your reach. This wasn’t hard as she was a foot taller than you. You stood on your tiptoes trying to reach it.

“Tatsuki that’s mine give it back!”

Tatsuki looked as though she was considering it. “Hm I don’t think so, huh girls?”

Tatsuki’s friends Sakura and Ai appeared as if out of nowhere. They were both as tall as Tatsuki herself, and as mean.

“Hey Tatsuki over here!”

Tatsuki threw the note to Ai, who threw it to Sakura, who threw it back to Tatsuki. It was a game of monkey in the middle only you weren’t having any fun. Finally Tatsuki dropped the note to the floor crushing it under her foot before you could grab it.

“Have your cruddy letter. Who would like you baka-chan!”

With that the three girls stomped off chuckling to themselves.

You crouched down picking the note up and smoothing it over. It might not be the best note but a least someone cared.

                The next day when you came to school everyone was talking about something. You wondered what could be exciting them all so much. Your friend Akane ran over.

                “Did you hear the news?!”

                “Akane-chan I just got here.”

                Akane flushed dark enough to match her brilliant red hair.

“Oh right. Well Tatsuki and her cronies are in the ICU!”

Your heart stopped. “WHAT!”

“Yeah isn’t it great?! Apparently they were involved in some freak accident at her father’s factory.”

“they were picking on me yesterday…”

“(Name)-chan they pick on everyone. You had nothing to do with this. Besides I think they deserved it, no one really liked them anyway.”

You nodded it was a coincidence that’s all. Later at your locker you saw another note in your shoe.

You frowned there was no gift you could see. Unless he meant…

Suddenly you weren’t sure if you wanted a secret admirer. You shook your head. It was stupid thinking he meant that the gift got lost that was all. You left the school running as fast as you could you had an anime to watch. You were in such a hurry you ran into someone.

“Hey your (name)-chan right?”

The boy was tall and had a shaved head why was he talking to you?

"Y-yes why?"

He smiled it was not a good smile. “perfect.” Suddenly he slammed you into the ground scraping you cheek on the pavement.

“That’s for hurting my girlfriend.”

What was he talking about.“Your girlfriend?”

“Yeah tatsuki. You were the only one she picked on yesterday then she gets sent to the ICU after an “accident” I don’t think it’s hard to connect the dots.”

“but I had nothing  do with that!”

“Maybe you did and maybe you didn’t but I have to blame someone and you’re the easiest. “

He stalked off leaving you lying there crying.

The next day you were watching the news. They were doing a story about a car that had been seen falling off a cliff. The car had only one passenger. When you saw the person found in the car your dropped your chopsticks. It was the boy from yesterday! Feeling very spooked you went to school glancing over your shoulder. When you went to put your shoes in your locker you saw another note. Trembling you picked up and opened it.

Don’t worry I’ll protect you no matter what.

Your mouth went dry. Who was sending these notes?! They were killing for you?! There was no way two people who’d hurt you in two days, getting hurt was a coincidence. You cried tears trailing down your cheeks. Would he hurt you if you didn’t agree to be his valentine? You were scared you wondered if you should just go home. You had a test today so no.

                Later that day you were walking down the hallway, when you ran into kaito the hottest boy in school.  We were so embarrassed.

“I’m sorry” you said blushing.

“It’s fine” he said looking into your (E/C) eyes. “You know I’ve never noticed how attractive you are.”

You blushed harder. “Y-Yeah well you’re not bad looking either,” what an understatement.

“well good to see you.”

“Y-yeah you too.”

You thought you might faint you’d just had a conversation with Kaito and he’d even complimented you! You went through the day in a wonderful haze you even forgot how scared you’d been eailer. That is until you opened you shoe locker. There was another note, you picked it up unfolding it with trembling hand. This time the words were red.

I won’t let anyone get in the way of our relationship, not even him.

Your hands shook and your entire body trembled. Kaito! Quickly you ran to the music room, where he went after school it was a well known fact, which only worried you more, if you could find him so could your unwanted admirer. You opened the door just in time to see, a base drum fall on Kaito. You didn’t look at who had pushed it you just ran over to him. You checked his pulse it was scattered but still there. you let out a breath you didn’t even know you’d been holding.

“I wouldn’t have killed him you know.”

You turned to face your tormentor. You froze it was Len Kagamine, his innocent blue eyes looked at you sparkling.

“Len-san what…you…why?”

“I had to protect you, those bullies putting their filthy, undeserving, hands on you. They deserved what they got. Then the boy on the sidewalk dared to make you cry, even worse he dared to make you bleed, a quick death was more than he deserved.”

He smiled at you in way that was both innocent and not. It was impossible to describe. It was like he knew it was wrong to do what he’d done, but he didn’t care because he’d done for you. In a weird twisted way it was kind of romantic… what the hell were you thinking?! Maybe you were the sick one.

“What about Kaito all he ever did was talk to me.”

Len’s face soured. “It’s not what he did it was what he was going to do. Kaito is a known heartbreaker. He doesn’t do it one purpose but I could not allow him to break your heart.”

 “Len- I- I know you did this for me but what you did… it was wrong.”

Len just smiled at you. “I know but I did it for you valentine mine. So I don’t care.”

“L-len that’s…” sweet you finished in your head. You couldn’t speak it out loud because that would be acknowledging you had those thoughts. That some sick twisted part of you liked what Len had done.

“be mine (name)-chan I promise I’ll never break your heart, I’ll always be there for you.”

you smiled it was not a good smile. “I know you won’t break my heart.”

Slowly you and Len kissed it was a short kiss but full of passion.

“I’m so happy valentine.” He said

“I am too valentine mine.

Alternate ending

“I’m sorry but I can’t accept love from a person who would so such horrible things.”

Len’s eyes seemed to lose all light. “oh you won’t accept me valentine mine…”

“I’m sorry but-“

“you think I’m a horrible monster don’t you?”

“what-no!”

“Anyone who hurts (name)-chan should die…” Len whispered

“No Len I don’t want-”

“Good bye valentine mine”  he whispered before he left.
